We’re hiring detailers
Yacht Butler Boat Care Ltd. is searching for Yacht Detailers to join our team. As a Detailer, you will be responsible for providing exceptional polishing and cleaning services.
We are hiring a full time and a part time detailer in Nanaimo, as well as paired teams in Campbell River and the South Island. The detailers we hire will attend our two-week minimum 16-hour paid training program in Nanaimo where we will orient them to our systems and train in the use of our tools and the products we use.
Yacht detailing tends to be seasonal work, but these positions will work year-round as part of our core crew. Applicants looking for a long term job will be preferred.
Duties:
- Polish gelcoat, paint, awlgrip, and metal boat hulls, topsides, and common areas
- Act as a company ambassador helping customers and the public understand our processes and solutions
- Work outdoors in a commercial boatyard environment working on rolling stairs or scaffolding from 5 feet to 20 feet in height using appropriate personal protective equipment
- Clean and detail boats, both interior and exterior, to a high standard of quality
- Vacuum, shampoo, and steam clean carpets, upholstery, and other surfaces
- Wash and wax vehicle exteriors to restore shine and protect the paint
- Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces
- Polish stainless steel and other metal components
- Remove dirt, dust, grime, and debris from cabinets, lockers, and mechanical compartment interiors
- Inspect boats for any damages or defects and report through our system
- Recommend additional services to customers and report through our system
- Follow company guidelines and procedures for detailing processes
- Work in a safe and professional manner wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the detailing area
Necessary abilities:
- Exercise excellent situational awareness in an active boat yard
- Converse with the public in a friendly and professional demeanor
- Comfort working outdoors for up to 8 hours in hot, cold, and/or windy weather conditions (extreme weather excluded)
- Comfort working in an active commercial/industrial boatyard sometimes using a respirator and/or cover suit to protect from dust and debris or other airborne pollutants
- Operate a 3.5 kg orbital polisher for extended periods at chest-height
- Perform duties at up to 20 feet in height using approved personal protective equipment
- Produce high-quality work both independently as well as part of a team
Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a criminal record background check
- Previous experience in any form of cleaning/detailing or related field is preferred
- Previous experience in construction or fabrication is preferred
- Previous experience working in commercial kitchens is preferred
- Leadership experience is preferred
- Must have vehicle

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
